Choose Variation: Alternate Recipes Made Easy

Effortless recipe swaps for personalized meal plans

A smart feature that lets coaches quickly swap any meal in a client’s structured plan with a goal-based alternative, such as Low Carb, Vegan, or Double Protein.


No need to search for a new recipe, just select a preset option that aligns with your client’s dietary needs or fitness goals.

  • Available for both Structured Meal Plans and Flexible Meal Plans.


Best for clients who need:

  • Macro adjustments (e.g., higher protein, lower carb)

  • Plant-based or allergen-free options

  • Personalized tweaks without full recipe changes


How to choose variation

Step 1: Open the Meal Variation panel

  1. Go to a client's Meal Plan tab, select Structured Meal Plan.

  2. Click the 3-dot menu on a recipe.

  3. Select 'Choose variation.'

Step 2: Pick a new version

A panel appears showing available tags like:

  • Dairy-Free

  • Double Protein

  • Extra Protein

  • Extra Protein & Fiber

  • Gluten-Free

  • Low Calorie

  • Low Carb

  • Nut-Free

  • Pescatarian

  • Vegan

  • Vegetarian

Note: Depending on the recipe, users can choose from several variation options.

Click any tag to preview that recipe’s variation.

On the preview page, you’ll see:

  • New title (e.g., “Orzo (Low Carb)”).

  • Updated macros and serving info.

  • Revised tags like Keto, Dairy-Free, Gluten-Free.

Step 3: Edit recipe (optional)

Before saving a recipe, you have the flexibility to tailor it to your client’s needs. Click the Edit button to enter editing mode and make any necessary changes.

In editing mode, you can modify:

  • Meal Name & Description

  • Prep & Cooking Time

  • Dish Type & Category

  • Dietary Tags

  • Ingredients

  • Instructions

  • Nutrition Information

To exit without saving any changes, simply click Cancel Editing.

Step 4: Save the new recipe

Click Save to apply it to the client’s plan.


Want to undo?

You can always revert!

  1. Open Choose variation again.

  2. Click Revert to original.

  3. Press Save to confirm.
