Percent Daily Value (%DV)
% Daily Value (%DV) shows how much a nutrient in a meal contributes to the recommended daily amount, based on the FDA’s standard 2,000-calorie diet.
%DV = (amount of nutrient in the meal ÷ Daily Value of that nutrient) × 100
For example, if a meal contains 10 g of saturated fat, and the Daily Value is 20 g:
10 ÷ 20 × 100 = 50% DV
This means the meal provides 50% of the daily value for saturated fat.
Nutrient | Daily Value (2,000-calorie ref.) |
Fiber | 28 g |
Sugars | No DV established |
Sodium | 2,300 mg |
Saturated Fat | 20 g |
Calcium | 1,300 mg |
Iron | 18 mg |
Cholesterol | 300 mg |
Added Sugars | 50 g |
A few things to keep in mind:
%DV is rounded to the nearest whole number.
Values over 100% are shown as calculated (for example, 145%) and are not capped.
Sugars does not have an established Daily Value, so Everfit shows the amount and a “-” instead of a percentage.
Tap the %DV in the Coach App or hover over it in Coach Web to see that it is based on a standard 2,000 kcal daily diet.
For Sugars, tap or hover over the “-” to see that Sugars has no official daily reference.
Note about Iron: The 18 mg Daily Value follows the FDA standard and is based on the recommended intake for menstruating women ages 19–50. Since individual iron needs can vary, particularly by sex and age, the %DV may not reflect every client’s personal daily requirement.
