When you provide evidence to challenge a dispute on one of your package payments, Everfit charges a one-time $15.00 Dispute Countered Fee. If you win the dispute, the fee is refunded to you automatically.
A dispute (also called a chargeback) happens when a client asks their bank to reverse a card payment they made to you. Our payment processor, Stripe, charges a fee when a dispute opens and a second fee when the dispute is challenged with evidence. Everfit passes both fees on to you at the same amount and doesn't add anything on top.
Good to know: The Dispute Countered Fee applies only if you send evidence documents to the Everfit Support team so they can challenge the dispute for you. If you don't provide evidence, the dispute isn't challenged and there's no Dispute Countered Fee.
Chargeback Fee vs. Dispute Countered Fee
These are two separate fees. Only the Dispute Countered Fee can be refunded.
Fee | Amount | When it's charged | Refunded? |
Chargeback Fee | Every dispute, as soon as it opens | Never, win or lose | |
Dispute Countered Fee | $15.00 | When you provide evidence and Support submits it to challenge the dispute | Yes, automatically, if the dispute is won |
What a dispute costs you in total
Outcome | Total fees |
Not challenged (you don't provide evidence) | Chargeback Fee |
Challenged and won | Chargeback Fee (the Dispute Countered Fee is refunded) |
Challenged and lost | $15.00 + Chargeback Fee, plus the disputed payment |
When the fee is charged
Once per dispute. Evidence can only be submitted once, so you're charged at most once per dispute.
On a separate invoice. The fee is not added to your subscription. All Dispute Countered Fees from the same day are grouped into one one-time invoice and charged automatically at the end of the day to the card in Settings > Billing.
Not retroactive. Disputes challenged before this change are never charged.
When you won't be charged
You don't provide evidence to the Support team, so the dispute isn't challenged.
Your business is based in Mexico or Japan (Stripe doesn't charge this fee there).
The case was an inquiry or warning that never became a formal dispute.
Stripe challenged the dispute automatically.
Where to find the fee
On coach web, go to Settings > Billing and open Billing History.
Find the row named Dispute Countered Fee. It shows the billing period (One-time), the amount ($15.00, or a multiple if several disputes were challenged on the same day), the status, the invoice number, and a download icon.
Click the download icon to get the invoice PDF. The line item reads "Dispute Countered Fee" with the quantity and a unit price of $15.00.
How to pay an unpaid fee
If your card is declined, the invoice is marked Unpaid, an Unpaid banner appears under your workspace subscription, and you'll receive an email.
Go to Settings > Billing and click Pay Now. You'll find it on the banner, on your subscription card, and on the Billing History row.
The Confirm Payment pop-up opens with the subtitle "Unpaid Dispute Countered Fee invoice". It shows your card on file and the invoice total. To use a different card, click Change Payment Method.
Click Pay Now. Once the payment goes through, the row changes to Paid, the banner disappears, and you'll get a confirmation email.
You can also pay using the payment link at the bottom of the invoice PDF.
