You are what you eat. Ever wonder how your diet and specifically macronutrients—protein, carbohydrates, and fat—provide energy to your body and enable you to strengthen different aspects of your health?

If you have, then it must be the right time for you to reach out to your coach and learn how to improve your nutrition intake. Tracking macros in your diet will help guide your food planning, so that you make smart food choices each day and achieve your fitness goals.

Let us show you how macros works on Everfit. (it's quick!)

How to Log Daily Macros

1. From the Today page, you will see your daily calories goal. Tap Add meal to log your meals throughout the day.

2. Fill in the protein, carbs, and fat for each meal. Usually, you can find this information on food labels or you can use an app, such as MyFitnessPal or Lifesum, to search for the macros breakdown of a particular food.

If you choose to input using grams, the total calories for the meal will be automatically calculated as you type. If you choose to input using %, you will need to add the estimated calories and percent of each macronutrient.

3. Once you have input your meal, the numbers will be added to your daily totals. On the Nutrition page, you will see a summary of the meals you have consumed for the day. Besides the Daily view, you can also choose to view your macro intake data on a Weekly view.

Daily nutrition and macronutrients are one of the most important factors of health and development. However, it is not the only factor, as water, micronutrients, sleep, exercise, and genetics also play big roles in how your body achieves growth and recovery.

So don't worry if you aren't gaining or losing weight as quickly as you may hope. Everyone is different, so you probably need personalized adjustments for your diet. Always consult with your coach, rather than follow cookie cutter online recommendations. Be patient, and good luck on your fitness journey!

I still don't quite understand Macros...

If tracking macros seem too detailed for you at the moment, don't worry; one simple way to start tracking what you eat is keeping a Food Journal.

Everfit's Food Journal lets you create a diary of meals you have eaten (you can post images or text), and allows your coach to review and comment on meals, so you can begin visualizing what you are eating and start learning to make better, healthier choices.

Let's start nourishing your body better today!
